Chicken wing blog

On Thursday, October 20, 2011, my teacher dissected a chicken wing in front of the class. She took off the skin and then she pulled on the muscles of the chicken wing to flex and relax, and it moved! She then cut apart the bone to show the bone and cartilidge. She showed us all the kinds of the organ systems except the nerves. At the end of the dissection, most of the kids in my class couldn't eat chicken for the next day!

Diffusion lab

Today in my science class i did a lab on Diffusion and Osmosis. This experiment used cornstarch and iodine. We put cornstarch in a plastic bag and tied it, then put it in a mixture of iodine and water. We wanted to see if the bag was permeable, which means it lets some materials through. It let in only a little bit of iodine, however, and it turned the cornstarch light yellow, and light purple on the bottom where it was touching the bottom of the beaker. Ending result- not very effective.
